Baptism
By baptism, we are joined to Christ in his death and resurrection and made members of his body, the Church. A time of preparation decided on by the candidate and a member of the clergy precedes the baptism of adults. In the case of infants or children who are going to be baptized, the parents meet with the priest beforehand to discuss the liturgy and its meaning and significance.
St. Mark’s regularly celebrates baptism as part of its Sunday liturgy. Especially appropriate dates for baptism are the Day of Pentecost, the Sunday after All Saints’ Day, and on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the First Sunday after the Epiphany.) Adults are often baptized at the Easter Vigil, a liturgy held on the evening before Easter Day.
If you are considering baptism, a member of the clergy would be happy to meet with you.
