Ron graduated from the University of Richmond, VA with a B.A. in Organ Performance and Religion. Prior to coming to St. Mark's, he was for seven years Director of Music at Saint James' Episcopal Church, the largest parish in the Diocese of Southeast Pennsylvania.
In addition to his excellence as an organist and choir director, Ron is a talented composer. His latest musical, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, with book and lyrics by Julianne Homokay, premiered at the Fulton Theatre (Lancaster, PA) in March 2007. He wrote music and lyrics for A CHRISTMAS CAROL, with book by Fulton playwright-in-residence Barry Kornhauser, which received a 2001 Red Rose Award and will be published by Dramatic Publishing in 2013. His other works include THE SHINIEST ROCK OF ALL, adapted by Jere Hodgin from Virginia author Nancy Ruth Patterson's book, and numerous incidental scores, including the world premiere productions of DRACULA LORD OF THE UNDEAD, LIGHTNING ROD, TREASURE, THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN and CYRANO.
Ron has scored over two dozen shows for regional children's theatre, some of which have toured nationally, been performed at the Producer's Association of Children's Theatre in NYC and the Kennedy Center in Washington, and been nominated for TCG awards. Orchestrations include the world premiere productions of BOJANGLES (music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Sammy Cahn), YES VIRGINIA THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS (music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum) and TREASURE ISLAND (music and lyrics by Marc Robin and Curt Dale Clark). Sound Design credits include the Off-Broadway production of ALL UNDER HEAVEN, starring Valerie Harper as Pearl S. Buck and ZELDA: THE LAST FLAPPER, which has played in Romania and Hungary as part of an ACTIV-5 international theatre festival. He is currently a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, New York (Advanced), and was (with Greg Edwards) a finalist for the 2010 Fred Ebb Prize.
